1. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information when you use ShortCut:

  • Account information — your email address, name, and a securely hashed password
  • Video content — videos you upload for editing, along with generated transcripts, captions, and metadata
  • Usage data — page views, feature usage, and error reports collected via Sentry for improving the Service
  • Payment information — billing details processed by Stripe (we do not store your full card number)

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
  • Process your video content (transcription, rendering, publishing)
  • Process payments and manage subscriptions
  • Send transactional emails (account confirmation, password resets, billing receipts)
  • Send product updates and newsletters (you can unsubscribe at any time)
  • Monitor and fix errors and performance issues

3. Third-Party Data Processing

To provide the Service, your data may be processed by the following third parties:

  • OpenAI (Whisper) — your video audio is sent to OpenAI's Whisper API for automatic transcription
  • Anthropic (Claude) — transcript text is sent to Anthropic's Claude API for generating video titles, descriptions, and hashtags
  • Publer — your video files and metadata are sent to Publer for publishing to social media platforms
  • Stripe — payment and billing information is processed by Stripe
  • Sentry — error tracking and session replay data is collected for debugging and improving the Service
  • Cloudflare — the Service is hosted on Cloudflare infrastructure, which handles CDN and network security

Each third party processes data in accordance with their own privacy policies. We only share the minimum data necessary for each service to function.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored in a PocketBase database hosted on Cloudflare infrastructure. We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure password hashing, and access controls. While we strive to protect your data, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

5. Cookies and Tracking

ShortCut uses the following cookies:

  • Authentication cookie (essential) — a PocketBase auth cookie that keeps you signed in
  • Sentry session replay (non-essential) — records anonymized user sessions for debugging purposes, requires consent

We do not use advertising cookies or sell your data to third parties.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Correction — update or correct inaccurate personal data
  • Deletion — request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Export — download your data in a portable format

7. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data and video content within 30 days. Some data may be retained longer if required by law or for legitimate business purposes (e.g., billing records). You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us.

8. Children's Privacy

ShortCut is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or an in-app notice. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects when the policy was last revised. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
