Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using ShortCut ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, you may not use the Service. We may update these terms from time to time, and your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

2. Description of Service

ShortCut is a web-based video editing tool designed for short-form content creators. The Service allows you to upload video, automatically transcribe audio, edit video by editing text, style captions, add background music, and publish to platforms including TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Instagram Reels.

3. Account Registration and Security

To use the Service, you must create an account with a valid email address and password. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

4. User Content and Ownership

You retain all rights to your content. ShortCut does not claim ownership of any content you upload, edit, or publish through the Service. By using the Service, you grant ShortCut a limited, non-exclusive license to process your content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you (e.g., transcription, rendering, publishing).

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Upload, publish, or distribute content that is unlawful, harmful, or infringes on the rights of others
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its related systems
  • Use the Service in any way that could damage, disable, or impair its functionality
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
  • Use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or extract data from the Service

6. Third-Party Services

ShortCut integrates with third-party services to provide its features. By using the Service, you acknowledge that your content may be processed by:

  • OpenAI (Whisper) — audio is sent for automatic transcription
  • Anthropic (Claude) — transcript text is sent for metadata generation (titles, descriptions, hashtags)
  • Publer — video and metadata are sent for publishing to social platforms

Content is sent to these services for processing only and is subject to their respective privacy policies and terms of service.

7. Payment and Billing

Paid subscriptions are processed through Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize Stripe to charge your payment method on a recurring basis. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the end of the current billing period. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing cycle, and you will retain access to paid features until then. Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis.

8. Free Tier Limitations

The free tier includes access to all editing features with the following limitations:

  • Up to 3 video exports per month
  • Maximum video duration of 3 minutes
  • A ShortCut watermark is applied to all exported videos

Upgrading to a paid plan removes these limitations.

9. Intellectual Property

The ShortCut name, logo, and all associated branding are the property of ShortCut. The Service's source code, design, and underlying technology are protected by intellectual property laws. Nothing in these terms grants you any right to use ShortCut's branding or intellectual property outside of normal use of the Service.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time if you violate these terms or engage in conduct that we determine is harmful to the Service or other users. You may delete your account at any time through the Settings page. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately, and we may delete your data after a reasonable retention period.

11. Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, ShortCut shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim arising from these terms shall not exceed the amount you paid to ShortCut in the 12 months preceding the claim.

12. Changes to Terms

We may revise these terms at any time by posting an updated version on this page. Material changes will be communicated via email or an in-app notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
